Indoor mask requirement and travel guidance

UPDATE 7/17/2022:

AAJA values the health and safety of our membership and community, and has been closely monitoring COVID-19 data as we near the start of #AAJA22. We are aware that two highly transmissible variants have become rampant and that deaths and hospitalizations related to COVID-19 have increased in Los Angeles County. As the county weighs reinstating a mask mandate, AAJA will do as much as we can to protect the health of #AAJA22 participants and our communities.

Based on CDC guidance that state there is an increased risk of COVID-19 exposure from large gatherings, AAJA is requiring all #AAJA22 participants wear masks in indoor convention spaces. We strongly recommend high quality respirator masks like KN95s, KN94s and N95s over surgical cloth face masks. You may remove your mask if you are actively drinking or eating, or if you are an official speaker for designated indoor programming.

If you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, please do not attend convention events. During the convention, we strongly encourage you to keep track of your close contacts. In the event that you test positive for COVID-19, please inform recent close contacts and isolate.

We also recognize that airplane travel heightens risk of infection. As you make plans to travel to #AAJA22, please consider the risk to yourself and to fellow attendees. AAJA strongly recommends that you wear a high-quality mask while traveling to #AAJA22, and that you test at least twice, once before traveling and once at convention.

We will continue to monitor guidelines from the CDC, and state and local governments.

AAJA reminds ALL attendees that by participating in #AAJA22, you agree to abide by AAJA’s Code of Conduct and AAJA’s COVID-19 Policy. If a participant does not abide by them, AAJA may take any action we deem appropriate, up to and including immediate expulsion without warning from the event and without refund of any registration or other fees, and revocation of your membership in AAJA.

AAJA requires that each registrant is fully up to date with all recommended covid-19 vaccines.

Refer to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidance on staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. COVID-19 vaccines protect against COVID-19.

  • Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.

  • Fully vaccinated means a person has received their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines.
